ONE minute, he was enjoying a leisurely stroll with his girlfriend in London.
The next minute, he was chased by a mob, beaten and brutally knifed to death.
No, Kodjo Yenga a 16-year-old was not walking in a dodgy, unsafe part of London. He was strolling on the outskirts of a very upscale part of town, lined with million-dollar houses.
He was killed just 100m away from the home of English actor Ralph Fiennes.
Kodjo is believed to have been targeted after wandering on to gang territory in Hammersmith, West London, on Wednesday, after he had dinner with his girlfriend, Cookie, and her mum.
Cookie, 15, who witnessed the attack described how: 'A boy came up to Kodjo asking him if he wanted a fight. Kodjo is not afraid of anyone so he said, 'Come on, let's do this.'
'Then we went round a corner, somewhere a bit quieter but we were ambushed.
'Some grabbed me and others attacked him. They all had weapons - knives, hammers and baseball bats.
'There was blood everywhere. He had been stabbed twice in the heart and in the foot.'
Other witnesses said that teenage girls egged on the attack with shouts of 'Kill him, kill him' before the victim, was surrounded. At one point Kodjo raised his arms to fend off blows from sticks.
Another local resident said: 'I heard a girl shouting 'What are you doing? What are you doing?' At first it was not very loud and I thought it was just a couple fighting, and then I heard it again, 'what are you doing?’
'I opened the window and then I saw this young man lying on his back in a pool of blood - there was blood all over. The girl was still there; she was crying and was on the phone.'
This is the fifth in a serious of violent gang-related murders to hit London in the past five weeks...
'This was a horrific attack in daylight in a relatively busy street and will send shock waves through the community. My sympathy goes out to the family of the victim.

Ode To My Killer

Before you shoot, look into my eyes,
Can you see the same fear you feel inside?
You may see me as someone who has it all,
But I have the same fears and hesitations after all.

I know your pain and what is tearing at you,
For I have the same self- conscious feelings too.
So before you shoot look deep and you may realize
You see a lot of yourself in my eyes.

Before you shoot, think and feel what would it be like,
To be on the other end of my strife.
Will taking from me ease your pain?
Or can we deal with this maybe some other way.

Before you shoot come into my heart,
Think of all your tearing apart,
My life is in your hands it’s true,
Do you really want this consequence tearing away at you?

Before you shoot or think that thought,
Tell me of your pain and what you’ve sought.
Maybe you’ll find someone you’ll treasure
You never gave me a chance to show what I have to offer.

I can only ask these things and it’s all up to you,
I have no power, which is what you wanted to do.
So now that you’ve got what you wanted to do,
Please think of these things before you shoot.
